USA's sci-fi thriller Colonyreturns to our screens on Ongoing Series ArchivesJan. 12, and star Josh Holloway is pretty pumped for the darker turn the show is taking in Season 2. The series is set in a near-future version of Los Angeles which -- along with the rest of the world -- is under the rule of alien invaders who have coopted human "Collaborators" to help them maintain order and suppress rebellion.
In Mashable's exclusive sneak peek below, Holloway previews what's ahead for his character, Will Bowman, who has been cooperating with the Collaborators to try and track down his missing son -- even as his wife, Katie (Sarah Wayne Callies) operates as a member of the Resistance, unbeknownst to Will.
Holloway notes that Colony's themes feel particularly timely in Season 2: "The nature of a dictatorship gets darker as time goes on; people that are involved that are just trying to survive that dictatorship inevitably get dirty," he points out. "We have suppressed or been suppressed by each other since the beginning of time -- these questions posed by Colony are current and on everyone’s mind now."
Can Will and Katie save their son and mend their broken family? We'll find out when Colonyreturns for Season 2 on Jan. 12 at 10 p.m. on USA.
If you need to catch up before the new season begins, ColonySeason 1 debuts on Netflix on Dec. 13, and you can watch more behind-the-scenes clips at the show's official site.
