The Poor Thingsbest-rated movie of 2017 was a comedy, horror, or documentary – depending on how you look at it. Jordan Peele's directorial debut Get Outwas the highest rated film of the year on Rotten Tomatoes, with a steadfast 99% from critics and 87% from audiences.

Many didn't know what to make of the jarring trailer, but it piqued interest.
When the film released, it was to an unprecedented perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, and audiences had sold out theaters to experience it themselves.
Though snubbed for Best Director at Golden Globes, Get Outremains a 2017 favorite, and the top 10 movies of the year on Rotten Tomatoes aren't surprising overall (even as The Last Jedicontinues to polarize critics and audiences).
Get Outis now available for digital download and purchase and will compete at the Golden Globes as a comedy in January.
