The Texas Tech and Cal football teams are scheduled to meet in the 2023 Independence Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 16 at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, Louisiana. The game is scheduled to start at 9:15 p.m. ET/6:15 p.m. PT. 

Texas Tech enters the matchup 6-6 overall. Most recently, Texas defeated Texas Tech 57-7 on Nov. 24. Cal comes into the contest 6-6 overall. On Nov. 25, Cal beat UCLA 33-7. In the only previous meeting between the Texas Tech and Cal football programs, Texas Tech won 45-31 in the 2004 Holiday Bowl.
