Warner Bros. Discovery is Watch Sexy Beggars Pudding Onlinechanging the name of its streaming service Max back to HBO Max, and TV lovers everywhere cheered.
SEE ALSO: Summer TV preview: All the TV shows you need to know, and where to stream themThe decision, announced during WBD's 2025 upfront presentation on Wednesday, comes two years after the company dropped the (iconic, recognizable, respected) HBO branding from its streaming platform, leaving us with only...Max. You know, the place where you can watch HBO shows, but why advertise that?
The 2023 Max rebrand was a result of the platform's merge with reality TV-focused streaming service Discovery+, but WBD appears to be backtracking on that decision as well, purging hundreds of seasons of those shows from the platform.
Instead of throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks (Max certainly didn't), WBD is vowing for more of a "quality over quantity" approach in the future. In a press release about the Max name change, HBO's parent company said, "No consumer today is saying they want more content, but most consumers are saying they want better content."
The HBO Max rebrand goes into effect this summer, but people online are already laughing at WBD's backtrack.
