Will Ferrell has lampooned the competitive worlds of car racing, figure skating, basketball and youth soccer, and now he's set his sights on competitive gaming.
Ferrell is set to star in an upcoming esports comedy, Legendary Entertainment announced in an email release Tuesday. The film does not yet have a title or expected release date.

Bush impression to call out Donald Trump and Billy BushThe esports comedy is being likened to Talladega Nights, a 2006 comedy film written by and starring Ferrell, who plays dysfunctional and successful NASCAR driver Ricky Bobby. Ferrell will be playing a member of a professional esports team in the upcoming esports film.

Major esports team organizations Evil Geniuses and Fnatic may also have a presence in the movie, the release said. EG has teams in Dota 2, Call of Duty, StarCraft 2and Street Fighter, and Fnatic has teams in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends, Overwatchand Dota 2.
Neither team immediately responded to Mashable's request for comment.
The film is being produced by Gary Sanchez Production -- producers of Step Brothers, Eastbound & Down, and Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie-- and Mosaic, which produced Talladega Nights, Elfand Semi-Pro.
The film will be written by Michael Kvamme and Jordan Dunn, who have worked on the upcoming SpongeBob Squarepantsmovie.
No director has been set for this film.
