Chinese e-commerce platform JD.com is accelerating its offline expansion with the launch of its biggest brick-and-mortar retail complex to date,Sedan Sex (2018) a 750,000-square-foot smart mall in southern Beijing. The new JD MALL, now in soft launch, is located in Fengtai District, a commercial zone about 30 minutes from Beijing’s city center. The seven-floor complex blends digital and physical shopping, offering everything from electronics and home appliances to coffee bars and AR try-ons. Tech features include 3D displays, VR demos, and electronic price tags synced in real time with JD.com’s online store.
JD.com’s strategy echoes Amazon’s and Walmart’s push into omnichannel retail, but with its own unique twist: the mall doubles as a tech showroom and lifestyle hub. The company plans to open dozens more across China, with a second Beijing location set to open in late May. [Jiemian, in Chinese] https://www.jiemian.com/article/12739210.html
