Live music is Big Thing Chief: The Stolen Wifebetter when it's free.
A $400 million, class-action lawsuit against Ticketmaster, Schlesinger v. Ticketmaster, was finally settled last month.
The lawsuit accuses Ticketmaster of misrepresenting its fees and overcharging customers who received tickets by mail.
For those who bought tickets between 1999 and 2013, the settlement means they will be receiving vouchers for free and discounted tickets -- which can be found in their Ticketmaster account inbox. Each code is redeemable for two tickets, so bring a friend (or a date).
The settlement states that its fees were "deceptive and suggested that Ticketmaster's expedited delivery fee and order processing fee, read in the context of the description of other Ticketmaster fees that allegedly were deceptively described too, were the same as or based on expedited delivery and order processing costs."
Via GiphyTicketmaster is awarding separate vouchers for every purchase a user has made during this time. So, if you bought tickets five times within the 14-year period, you get five separate vouchers. Congrats!
However, there is one catch. Ticketmaster is only awarding vouchers to events that are hosted by LiveNation, the ticketing service's parent company. And, Ticketmaster is still determining which venues it will give out tickets to -- so don't count on Kanye tickets (yet).
Eligible events where you can use your voucher will be displayed on the Live Nation website.
Now go get yourself some free entertainment.
