A new trailer for upcoming Netflix series Squid Gamehas arrived,Roman Huber providing a look at some of its lethal playground games. They are definitely not suitable for children.
In the stylish South Korean thriller, over 450 struggling, debt-ridden people are invited to participate in a mysterious competition to win ₩45.6 billion ($39 million) — a difficult amount to turn down even if you don't have financial problems. All they have to do is play a series of children's games such as Red Light, Green Light, which seems like a pretty good deal on the face of it.
Unfortunately, while the potential winnings are significant, it soon becomes apparent that the consequences for losing are much more dire than simply having to sit out until the next round. And it's much too late to back out.
At least the ₩45.6 billion prize can pay for an excellent therapist for whoever survives.
Squid Gamearrives on Netflix Sept. 17.
