The news comes just three days before the show's Season 2 premiere, a sign of the network's confidence in House of the Dragon's surefire status as a hit. Based on George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood, the series tells the story of the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons.

"We are in awe of the dragon-sized effort the entire team has put into the creation of a spectacular Season 2, with a scope and scale that is only rivaled by its heart. We could not be more thrilled to continue the story of House Targaryen and watch this team burn bright again for Season 3."
Given how bloody conflict tends to get on this show, we can safely guess Season 3 won't be devoted to Team Black and Team Green kissing and making up. Bring on more battles.
House of the Dragon Season 2 premieres June 14 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and Max.
