This week in unlikely animal friendships: An anti-poaching dog at a South African wildlife orphanage009 Archives has taken a liking to a 10-day-old baby giraffe named Jazz.
In a video posted by the Rhino Orphanage on Friday, the dog (whose name, ironically, is Hunter) watches over Jazz. The two cuddle. Jazz rests his head on Hunter's back. It's so adorable as to be pleasantly nauseating.
The facility took Jazz in when the baby giraffe was only a few days old. According to the AP, a local farmer "found him in the wild, weak and dehydrated, and called the center for help."
Now Jazz is doing much better, and the facility hopes to let him back into the wild soon. But until then, he'll have a devoted Belgian Malinois pal. We should all be so lucky.
