During his campaign Donald Trump pledged to fight for the freedoms of the LGBTQ community,Tramas Ardientes S01 E09 but since taking office, he has yet to follow through on his promises.
Like many others, former Vice President Joe Biden has taken notice, and at a private LGBTQ gala in New York on Wednesday, Biden encouraged the community to take action against Trump's administration.

Biden went on to acknowledge that things aredifferent now, but reminded members of the LGBTQ community that persistence is key to achieving change. "Just because you don’t have Barack and me in the White House doesn’t mean it’s time to give up, keep quiet, stay on the sidelines," he said.
In the past Trump proclaimed he would help the LGBTQ community, and was even photographed posing with a rainbow flag at an October rally. However, since taking office his actions and words appear have come off to members of the community as hypocritical.
In addition to the fact that he chose Mike Pence as his vice president, since his time in office Trump helped roll back the right for trans students to use bathrooms matching their gender and largely ignored Pride Month.
Trump's daughter Ivanka kicked off the month by tweeting a message of support to the LGBTQ community, but the president himself has yet to acknowledge June as National Pride Month. He has, however, released statements publicly declaring this month National Homeownership, Ocean, African-American Music Appreciation, and Great Outdoors Month. *sigh*
According to The Associated Press, White House spokeswoman Kelly Love released a statement in response to negative views surrounding Trump's relationship with the LGBTQ community. "President Trump has been clear in his commitment to improving the lives of all Americans, including those in the LGBT community," she said.
Biden was introduced at the gala by Henry Munoz, the DNC finance chair whose same-sex wedding the former VP officiated last month. Munoz joined Biden's call to action, describing the environment for the LGBTQ community under Trump's administration as "scary."

"This moment has been injected with hate and separation and is the farthest away from equality we have ever stood in my lifetime," Munoz said.
