The Taboo Sex: Daughter in law, Sister in law, Mother in law (2025)platform suspended the actress on Thursday, allegedly because "one of her tweets included a private phone number," which they said violated Twitter's terms of service.

McGowan has quickly become one of the most prominent voices denouncing sexual violence and the men who do nothing to stop it after an outpouring of allegations that Hollywood titan Harvey Weinstein raped, sexually abused, and harassed many aspiring actresses and other women.

Once the platform unlocked her account, McGowan sent a tweet questioning the standards of the company's terms of service.

Her question is one that's been on the minds of plenty of people, as President Donald Trump continues to occasionally tweet threats of nuclear war with North Korea.

The company recently gave themselves an out, saying newsworthy tweets don't violate its terms.

After many of the platform's users were enraged by McGowen's suspension, Twitter tried to explain itself.
