The first five models available to Brazilian customers include Aion V compact crossover, the first global model of GAC’s EV unit Aion, as well as the Hyptec HT, a sports utility vehicle under its luxury lineup Hyptec. At the time of writing, the company operates 33 dealership stores in major Brazilian cities, according to a Chinese statement. In a meeting with Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in Beijing on May 12, Wei Haigang, president of GAC International, said that GAC hopes to “propel technological innovation in Latin America’s largest economy.” [TechNode reporting, Reuters, GAC press release]
